2012 winners4R messages from the fertilizer industry have been well received; however engaging agricultural producers and sharing 4R success stories from the field also plays a critical role in adoption of 4R nutrient stewardship. Following this year’s successful 2012 4R Advocate Program, we are now opening nominations for the 2013 award process. The 4R Advocate Program relies on fertilizer retailers nominating grower clients in recognition of their efforts to implement 4R consistent practices. Last year, five growers and their nominating retailers were honored and awarded a trip to the Commodity Classic. Knowing growers often listen to their peers, winners spent time in our 4R Commodity Classic expo booth and winner interviews were used to create a 4R video. To view the 2012 4R Advocate video visit the 4R Advocate webpage.

The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) considers retailer and grower participation in the nomination process part of the 4R outreach effort. Participation as a nominator provides an opportunity to further educate retailers about 4R Nutrient Stewardship, and participation as a nominee provides the grower an opportunity to be educated about the 4Rs and associated practices. The 2013 4R Advocate grower winners, a grower guest and the winning nominating retailers will receive an expense paid trip to the 2013 Commodity Classic.

There is no limit to the number of entries per retailer; however we suggest multi-outlet entities use an internal vetting process to select the best nominations for submission. Nominations will be accepted through November 12th and should be submitted to Lara Moody ([email protected]). Applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and winners will be announced in mid-December.

The Nomination Form, program rules and information about last years winners is available on the 4R Advocate webpage.
