In early March, several TFI staff members traveled to Nashville, Tenn., to participate in the 2012 Commodity Classic. This year’s event boasted record attendance with well over 5,500 growers taking part in the agricultural tradeshow that is hosted annually by the National Corn Growers Association, American Soybean Association, National Association of Wheat Growers and the National Sorghum Producers.
Growers come to Commodity Classic to learn what will make them an even better farmer. The trade show offers attendees a venue to see and discuss the latest innovations with top industry leaders. An atmosphere of openness and peer exchange, educational sessions and candid policy briefings make Commodity Classic a yearly pilgrimage for those seeking to advance in U.S. agriculture.
For the second year in a row, TFI put its 4R nutrient stewardship booth on display and engaged with growers to discuss fertilizer best management practices. TFI also honored the grower and retailer winners of its inaugural 4R Advocate Award Program. Winners received an expense-paid trip to the Commodity Classic where they were celebrated with an awards banquet and helped TFI spread the 4R message on the tradeshow floor.
