4R consistent products and services
Soil Sampling & Analysis
CHS local agronomists and Certified Crop Advisors recommend appropriate soil sampling methods, pull, label and ship samples to a reputable laboratory, and interpret sample results. Soil is sampled by composite sample, geo-referenced sample, grid or zone. This ensures the right product is placed in the soil to improve yields.
Mapping & Prescription Fertilizer Recommendations
CHS uses satellite imagery, software and GPS technology, along with field history and proper agronomic and environmental data to build layered maps used for variable rate application. This ensures the right amount of product in the right place.
In addition to precise mapping and application, CHS conducts soil and plant tissue testing, and offers custom application by certified/professional applicators.
Best Management Practices
CHS also works with growers on a full range of Best Management Practices to preserve natural resources while ensuring healthy, profitable crop production, including: use of nitrogen stabilizers, limiting anhydrous ammonia applications to soils where temperature is less than 50 degrees, farm planning and record keeping, nutrient/manure management plans, crop scouting, fertility test plots and trials, micronutrient products as needed, CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) personnel working directly with growers.
CHS agronomists and agronomy sales staff attend regular product and safety training, and senior managers complete periodic crisis communications training and audits.
This adherence to Best Management Practices ensures that CHS is making the right decisions for the right reasons.
