The Nature Conservancy
As the largest private, non-profit conservation organization in the world, The Nature Conservancy strives to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.
Their vision is to help leave a sustainable world for future generations. To do that, we must find innovative ways to ensure that nature can continue to provide the food, clean water, energy and other services on which our growing population depends. 4R nutrient stewardship is a scientific approach to nutrient management that when implemented will help improve water quality, and produce food we need. While the application of 4R nutrient management is specific to each farm, the 4R message is important globally, especially in those areas in the United States such as the Great Lakes, Mississippi River, Chesapeake Bay, and Puget Sound where contributions from agricultural nutrients are a major contributor to degraded lakes, streams, and bays.
The Nature Conservancy is committed to sharing the 4R Nutrient Stewardship message with partners and members in our agricultural work and looks for opportunities to grow the implementation of 4R nutrient management principles.
